On the evening of May 3rd 2007, in the
small Portugese fishing village of Praia da Luz, a 3 year-old girl
is reported missing.
Her name is Madeleine McCann.
So begins one of the most extraordinary cases
of recent years.

The Mystery of Madeleine McCann
|
|
|
Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann
had been dining at a nearby Tapas bar with seven of their friends, with whom they were holidaying.
The group claim to have checked regularly on their
children but when Kate goes to check on her children, at 10.00pm, she discovers Madeleine has gone.
There can be few people now, in a global audience,
who are unfamiliar with both Madeleine's name and face. Through a well orchestrated awareness campaign, the McCanns' mission
to find their daughter has touched celebrities, leading European politicians and the Pope.

What happened to Madeleine?
|
What happened that fateful evening of May 3rd remains
cloaked in mystery.
This is due, in part, to Portugal's strict
secrecy laws which prevent the police and anyone named an 'arguido' (official suspect) from discussing any aspect of the investigation.
And part to alleged witness statements
that appear to be riddled with inconsistencies. The result has been an unending
supply of leaks from 'sources' whose reliability can never be ascertained and internet forums aflame with wildfire
theories.
It seems everyone has an opinion. But the most important aspect of the case remains undisputed.
To find Madeleine and bring her home.
